Phnom Penh— On September 11, 2025, His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) and Chairman of the Digital Government Committee (DGC), presided over the opening ceremony of the workshop on “Data Governance and Open Data” at Oakwood Premier Phnom Penh. The event was also attended by Dr. Jung Seongho, Co-Head of the Korea-Cambodia Digital Government Cooperation Center (DGCC); representatives from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA); MPTC leaders and senior officials; and representatives from various government ministries and institutions, researchers, the education sector, and the private sector—bringing together approximately 130 participants.

In his remarks, H.E. Minister Chea Vandeth emphasized that the workshop on “Data Governance and Open Data” provides an important opportunity for the government ministries and institutions, relevant stakeholders, and the private sector to collaborate with the MPTC in formulating and drafting the policy framework related to data governance and open data, with the aim of promoting data sharing practices. In addition, H.E. Minister stated that data holds little value if it lacks accuracy or is used without clear objectives; however, when utilized effectively, data becomes a goldmine that can drive economic development.
